Santiago - Atacama - Puerto Varas – Bariloche - Chiloe
Arrival in Santiago, reception and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: SantiagoAfter breakfast, a city tour of Santiago. An excursion to the Cerro San Cristobal viewpoint for a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
Day 3: Santiago toursToday a visit via the Maipo Canyon and up to Las Vertientes, a popular resort at the foothills of the Andes, with a view of the winding Maipo River. We continue to the Concha y Toro winery, one of the largest exporters of fine wines in Chile. The tour will end with some wine tasting before returning to Santiago.
Day 4: Santiago - Calama - San Pedro de AtacamaAfter breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Calama, in the north of Chile. Arrival and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, set in the middle of the Atacama Desert. Accommodation at the hosteria.
Day 5: Atacama Desert tourTour of San Pedro de Atacama, cradle of the Atacama Culture during the pre-Columbian period. We shall visit the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt mountain range) and the only view of the massive salt flats with Licancabur Volcano in the background. We shall also visit Pukara de Quitor and the Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) which astonishes visitors with its geological formations of salts and carbonates where nature has shaped them into an astonishing landscape. Return to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
Day 6: Atacama Desert tourAfter breakfast, we will visit the Archaeological Museum Padre Le Paige where we shall witness an exhibition showing the evolution of Atacamanian life over the past 11,000 years. After lunch we shall visit Lake Chaxa to view the three species of flamingo amongst other birds.
Day 7: San Pedro de Atacama - Calama - SantiagoVery early morning departure to the Tatio Geysers to experience this spectacular phenomena of volcanic activity. In the middle of the Andean mountains, the El Tatio Geysers at 4500 metres above sea level gush fumaroles at dawn. We will also visit the village of Caspana with its fertile terraces, architecture in Liparita stone and characteristic mud-roofs. Return to Calama in the afternoon and onto Santiago. Reception and transfer to your hotel.
Day 8: Santiago - Puerto Montt - Puerto Varas - FrutillarAfter breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight south to Puerto Montt, the capital of the Lake District. Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Puerto Montt. Visit to Puerto Varas, overlooking the beautiful inland lake of Llanquihue with spectacular views across the lake to Osorno Volcano.
Day 9: Puerto Montt - Puerto Varas - Petrohue - Lago Todos Los Santos - PeullaAfter breakfast, transfer to Petrohue which is the starting point of the fabulous Vincente Perez Rosales National Park. Board the catamaran for the wonderful All Saints Lake crossing (Lago Todos Los Santos) (1 ½ hours), our destination being Peulla, located within Vincente Perez Rosales National Park itself. Accommodation at the Peulla Hotel. A choice of tour options.
Day 10: Peulla – Puerto Alegre - BarilocheAfter breakfast, we leave this beautiful National Reserve to continue our journey first by bus to the Chilean-Argentinean border where we must complete custom formalities. Once in Argentina, we then board another boat for the short ride across Lago Frias with wonderful views of spectacular waterfalls and Mount Tronador in the background. Arrival to Bariloche and transfer to our hotel.
Day 11: BarilocheFree day of leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Bariloche. Enjoy the most deluxe ski resort in South America or simply wander around the shops. Take a cable car ride for tremendous views of the area or for the more adventurous, choose from mountain biking and horse riding to fly fishing.
Day 12: Bariloche – Villa La Angostura – Puerto MonttAfter breakfast, we shall take a different route back to Chile driving around the beautiful Nahuel Huapi Lake and heading towards the delightful town of Villa La Angostura. Along the journey we shall pass other lakes including the Espejo or Mirror Lake which is one of the 7 lakes of the famous 7 Lakes route of Argentina. We cross the Argentinean - Chilean border over the Andes pass and head south back to Puerto Montt. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 13: Puerto Montt - ChiloeAfter breakfast, a visit to the beautiful and mystical island of Chiloe, the second largest island off South America. A seafood lunch and some free time before returning to Puerto Montt
Day 14: Puerto MonttAfter breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
